Ho Ho Ho! You'll shoot your eye out...
We took Beckem to our ward Christmas party on Saturday night. He wasn't so sure of the whole Santa thing...as you see in the first photo, Daddy is standing by. But once Beckem heard the jolly "Ho ho ho" he just laughed and smiled! He's such a happy boy. Then he got to ride on the big boy train at Uncle Brad's house. Cool photo spot right in front of the tree!

Happy 7 months!
Well, another holiday is over and we're decorating for Christmas. It seems like not long ago we were decorating the tree...I was pregnant...and now it's Christmas again and Beckem is 7 months old! Why does time travel faster the older we get?! We had a nice Thanksgiving at Ryan's mom's house. My parent's came into town as well and we had a nice, but too short, visit. Only 3 more weeks of school to get through until winter break! : )

Monkey Laughs
When Beckem and I went to Washington to visit my sister, she got him to really laugh for the first time by making this deep gorilla noise. It was so funny! Well, just see for yourself...
Lots of Smiles!
Wow! I can't believe how fast time goes by. Last weekend I packed up most of Beckem's newborn and 0-3 month clothes and got out the 3-6 month stuff. I almost cried as I realized how big he is getting and will continue to get. It seems like I just brought him home from the hospital! He is talking so much now and when he thinks something is hilarious, he will giggle a lot. He seems to be adjusting to being home with daddy now that I'm back to work full time. I'm just thankful that he's a mellow, easy-going baby who is very flexible. Do you see why it's hard for me to leave him every morning?

Reading with Mommy
The first time I read him this story he smiled and was talking to the pages. But, of course, when I had Ryan grab the video camera it wasn't quite as exciting the second time he heard the story...but still cute!

Happy 1 Month Birthday!

I don't like baths!
Well, Beckem's ambilical cord fell out on his 1 week birthday so we decided to give him a bath. He was a little fussy to begin with and I thought a warm bath would sooth him. Boy, was I wrong! I have never heard a baby more hysterical. But what do you do? He was already wet and soapy, so we just finished quickly and took him out. This picture is of the aftermath. He looks a little traumatized...sort of a "deer in the headlights" look. Pathetic! (You can really tell how small he is by the size of the binky in his mouth). I guess we'll try again another night...

My first trip to the doctor
On Thursday, April 30th, I had my first trip to see Dr. Leavitt. He is my pediatrician and he was also my daddy's pediatrician. I was 5 lbs 14 oz but Dr. said that's ok...I'll gain the weight back by my next appt in 2 weeks. He said that I am going to be tall because of my long legs!
I am nursing great now...I finally figured it out! Mommy is very happy about this. I looked cute in my carseat and loved the ride to the doctor. I even opened my eyes for this photo.

Welcome, Baby Beckem!
Well, after all the waiting and preparation he's finally here! Meet Ryan Beckem Moorefield. He was born on Sunday, April 26th at 6:03 pm. He weighed 6 lbs 7oz and was 19 inches long. My water broke that morning at 5:30 but I didn't have contractions. So at 10:30am they started me on pitocin (sp?) and I finally started into labor. At 5:20pm I was still only dilated to a 6, but then I went from a 6 to a 10 in 30 minutes! After 13 minutes of pushing, he came out! Can I just tell you how weird it was to hold him, knowing he was just inside of me? It was a little overwhelming and Ryan and I were both crying. What a special moment! Here he is at home doing his favorite thing... sleeping in his bassinet under the window soaking up some sun.

Prego Pictures!
Well, here we are, the happy couple. Ryan's brother Sean took some pregnancy photos for us today. This was towards the end and I was really sweaty (it was like 90 degrees here today) and so I decided to take a break and sit by this stream with my feet in the cool water. Ryan joined me and "click" one of the best shots was taken!

The Nursery
Well, we finally finished the nursery. It has been painted for a while but we just bought the crib bedding and finished hanging pictures. The orange paint is actually more subtle than the picture shows...I'm not sure why it looks so bright. We put together the stroller this morning and have the carseat all ready to go. It's nice to have everything done, although now it's just the waiting game. Will he come next week or wait until his due date? I've been having contractions on and off, but nothing major. I have another Dr. appt. on Tuesday so we'll see if I've made any progress from last week.

A Slight Addiction Maybe??
Ok, so I realize that I might have a slightly addictive personality when it comes to things like books. When I start to read something that intrigues me it consumes my life and I am pretty much useless until I'm done. Usually I don't start an interesting book unless I'm on spring break or it's summer because I don't have the time to devote. But I messed up. I started reading the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer last Friday...just picked up the first book to check it out. I've been resisting reading it since last summer when my sister told me to read them. I thought "Vampires, really?? That's going to be so lame." Whoa! Was I wrong. Who knew? So, now I've been sucked in and pretty useless since last Friday. What's worse is that I've sucked my husband into it. We rented the movie Saturday night after I finished the first book and he watched it. I caught him up last night past midnight reading the 2nd book after I'd succumbed to my tiredness and went to bed. I purposely left the book at home today because I knew I'd try to read it any free moment I get today and I have a lot of work to do!
On another note, I'm 35 weeks now and still feeling great. Other than my restlessness at night and bad sleep I'm doing pretty well. The countdown has started!!

10 weeks left...but who's counting?!
Hey everyone! I just realized it's been a month since I posted anything last. Life is a little crazy at the Moorefield house. My parents came out for a nice visit last week and the nursery is now painted. The closet is filled with baskets and little clothes too. Ryan's project is now to sand and paint the crib that we scored for free (it's not very cute right now) so that I can really start decorating. I am now 30 weeks and still feeling good. I notice that I wake up a lot more during the night and have had a few nasty leg cramps, but other than that, I can't complain. I found a great pediatrician and Ryan and I will start our birthing classes next week, so it's definitely getting closer! Sometimes I am so excited and just want him to be here and other days I am scared to death and don't feel prepared at all.
When I went to the doctor this week I realized that I've already gained the 25 pounds that I wanted to gain the entire pregnancy...so, I guess that goal is not going to happen. Maybe I can get away with only gaining 30 pounds? We'll see.

Ryan's Little Hippo...
Or so my husband affectionately calls me. Believe me, if I wasn't pregnant, it wouldn't be cute. But I don't mind my belly growing so much. I am 25 weeks now and love being pregnant. I feel great, have lots of energy, and am not limited yet as to what activities I can and can't do. I still go to my kick-boxing class on Saturday mornings and have been doing all my normal exercises. I know that it won't last for long, though, and am enjoying it while I can. I was leaning over with my feet on my coffee table Sunday morning painting my toenails and realized that pretty soon my belly will be too big to do that. I told Ryan that I hope he's good at painting nails because he will have to do it for me eventually.
We picked the color for the nursery walls this weekend. It's called "pumpkin spice". Don't cringe at the name...it's not hideous. It's actually a soft orangey-tan color. It will look great with the crib set we chose. Enjoy the photos of my belly. This might be the last time I'm courageous enough to take photos of myself for awhile!
